Ann Curry

Ann Curry, an American photographer and journalist who has been covering the natural and military disasters of nearly 45 years. Her focus is on the suffering of those who live in these places. Curry has reported on wars all over the globe, including Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry, (born November 19th 1956, Agana American journalist and TV anchor and news reporter who was most well-known for her work as a correspondent for the Today program, which was a morning news show that was telecast through the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry was renowned for her work on reporting the humanitarian crisis in war-ravaged countries as well as on natural catastrophes. Curry has a father who was an U.S. Navy sailor and the daughter of a Japanese woman. In the aftermath of World War II, her parents began to meet during her father's service in Japan. In the wake of her father's involvement in the military and the frequent moves they made. Curry was able to complete her high schooling within Ashland Oregon. In 1978, she graduated at the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. As a child she had the privilege of being exposed to diverse cultures. She then moved up to anchoring and reporting at KGW, an NBC-affiliated station in Portland. In the course of four years, she was appointed an anchor by KCBS TV located in Los Angeles. Two Emmy Awards were won during the six years she worked for KCBS-TV.
